My 1st Year in a Happy Planner

So July 2015-June 2016 was my first full year using a life planner. If you read my first planner post, back in July 2015, you'll know that being a student without a job, made finding an affordable yet creative planner was no easy task. I was in awe over the Erin Condren Life Planners, but $50 was too much. After much research I finally found the Me and My Big Ideas Happy Planner. Only $25, half that of the Erin Condren and it looked easier to work with and customize since the pages were removable. So I set forth trying to find it in my local Hobby Lobbies (to use their 40% off coupon and get it even cheaper). Unfortunately, after visiting 3 different stores, I was unable to find it. I gave up on my hope of a discount and paid pull price on the MAMBI website. Upon getting mine, I actually got my mom interested and she bought one herself!

I was so excited to use it. I decided to have a 2 planner system. My Happy Planner would be for life events, including some school stuff. While the Mead planner from Target was going to be my school planner - to write down homework each day and track due dates, etc. I found it worked smoothly.

Being young, I didn't have as many things to track as most adults, so I did find a lot of free space to decorate. Plus, school took up my mornings and afternoons, so I had only 1 box to plan any other stuff. (I'm so glad the headers are blank in the 2016-2017 planner)

My first few spreads weren't great. I was planning on a budget. AKA little to no stickers, 3 washi rolls, and colored pens.

I eventually realized Darice Sticker books were so cheap and I bought any I could find at my Micheal's. Slowly I got crafty and used post its and exacto knives to make flags and  I designed and printed my own stickers and hand cut them.

I made planning with little supplies possible. Yet there were still weeks in which I was too busy to sit down and creatively plan. A few weeks I couldn't even plan at all and they're still blank!

Throughout the year, as I started saving money, I was able to buy some MAMBI stickers and the Recollections stickers and made do. As the end of my senior year came, my life started getting busier and  I was finally starting to find my planner peace.

I look forward to my new year in my new 2016-2017 Happy Planner. Now that I have a job, I've been able to purchase some planner stickers online and I have so many ideas. Look out for my next post when I tell how I bought so many stickers for such great prices and will make do with them!

Until then, I bid you adieu.
